We have finally finished. Or shall I say: we ran out of time. Our deadline was tomorrow – the day before my parents would arrive for a month-long visit.
There are still lots of little bits and pieces to be done, but it is quite livable as it is now. I am slowly clearing out the chaos in every room, and hopefully we’ll soon be living in a very comfortable home.
The bathroom has had its stage 1 make-over. We still have to do the tiling and put some pictures/mirrors on the wall etc, but other than that, it’s clean, fresh and inviting.
In the kitchen we had been waiting for our dresser to be put onto casters, because it is so heavy, it is barely possible to move it … and that is when it is empty! And of course, the shelves are now up in the larder/pantry.
We had a clever counter put into the larder so we can put all our appliances out of view. It works really well.
I am so pleased with the hallway. Of course you can really notice that it needs some pictures (which we don’t have yet), but that can come over time.
The decorator (painter) still has to come back to do a few final bits, but I think we achieved the clean, light look we wanted.
The second bedroom is looking quite inviting. We haven’t yet bought furniture for this room as we haven’t finally decided how we want to use it. But we do have a few ideas.
Eventually I want to put a chaise longue in the bay. This room gets the best sun in the whole house, so we’d like to capitalise on that.
The carpet is more grey than it looks on the pictures …
It is almost time to rest! Now all I need to do is have my parents arrive, go on holiday and find a new job! At least our lives won’t be dominated by DIY now …
Thank you to everyone who has help us make it happen though!
