Hello from a rainy Dubrovnik. Let’s just say the sunshine couldn’t last indefinitely, and to the locals it is a necessary relief.

We have had fantastic weather up to now, but today was a day for rugby in an Irish Pub (only place showing it), where we lost to the Aussies! Oh no! But they deserved it – especially as they had 3 tries disallowed. And the South African Boyz will just have to play better if they want to win the series. I think they need just one more win to win the series.

We met 2 lovely South-Africans who are working on a yacht, which was in the harbour in the next town down. They were obviously as disappointed as we were …

Other than that, we have had a fantastic holiday. Miljet island was a highlight, although all the cycling we did nearly killed me, the food is as crap as I remember in Dubrovnik from all those years ago, things have got very expensive (more expensive than England in many cases), the service is very poor, but the scenery is spectacularly beautiful. The sun has been out in full force, the sea is brilliantly see-through, the pebbled beaches are a bit heavy underfoot and the pine trees that cover the islands a bit of a surprise. (You’d expect palm trees)

All in all we have had a lovely break, we’re rested and ready to face the big bad world of work …

When I get home I have 2.5 weeks (I think), then I am off to SA for about 10 days …. Life seems good right now.
