I had the most fantastic 40th birthday party. We had about 50 people around for Tim’s famous curries, and also an indian curry made by my favourite curry restaurant, Dilli’s.
I was thrilled to bits that some people made a special effort to make it. I would hate to leave anyone out, but a special thank you to: Kellie and David who came up from London; Leanne and Mick who came from the other side of the world (or so it feels) – Sleaford; Sue and Chris from London; Chris, Julie and Lizzie from Blackpool; Sheila and Gerald (my in-laws) from East Leake; and of course everyone else who didn’t have to come quite that far, but who came along.

The bunting I put up was made by my sister, Rochelle. I love it!

We moved around the whole lounge to create space for people to move. I was really concerned that our house couldn’t hold 50 people, but I was wrong. And how grateful I was for that!

Instead of a traditional cake, I had this cupcake stand filled with the most beautiful (and tasty) cupcakes. We found out later, the hard way, that the handbags weren’t edible!

I had asked guests not to buy me presents, but to rather donate money to our charity, Children of Africa, instead. Of course, our friends were so generous and we raised over £300 for the charity, (thank you everyone), but I was still spoiled.

There were 2 gifts that really stood out: This one below was from Paul and Rachael. They know how much I love fresh eggs, and they have hens, so they put together this basket for me. I adored it.

Unfortunately my picture of the other special gift, a big outdoors planter filled with spring flowers didn’t come out very well, and it isn’t looking quite as good as it did 2 weeks ago now. Sue and Chris from London planted that for me. I had thought it belonged to the neighbours when I saw it outside, but was thrilled to bits that it was actually mine!
Our house was filled with flowers – these ones I bought myself before the party to decorate the house

But then I received many more beautiful bunches from a number of people.

Thank you again to everyone who made my party a huge success. I am just disappointed I forgot to take pictures during the night – but I was having too much fun to be thinking about something practical.
